A (sincerely ironic & ironically sincere) thought experiment & collective art project. Can we change Mark Zuckerburg’s mind into fixing his mess and making the world a nicer place? — Written by Jake Elwes, originally conceived by Jake Elwes, Maya Dunietz and Cristina Planas

A call to optimise engagement algorithms towards compassion and understanding and away from conflict and division - sure this may lead to some disengagement but by trying to appeal to Zuckerburg’s very deep down ultimate goal of not just being the richest most powerful man but also loved by all as the saviour of humanity maybe we stand a chance

Dear Mark Zuckerburg,
Imagine a universe in which you’re not just the richest man in the world but you’re also revered as the saviour of humanity. Everyone loves you, not just the people buying into your products, but also the people who see the many flaws in them. They would also start to worship you and that’s the one thing you currently don’t have.
We’re appealing to you as you seem a like a man with a plan. Unlike Elon who may be currently gaining some traction, but ultimately is a traumatised solipsistic man who’s emerald dealing dad shot two black men in their family home. Elon is regularly in a K-hole and seems to be flowing with and willing chaos on the world through disruption, gamification and deregulation.
To do this we are calling for you to please change the way your social media operates through it’s ‘engagement’ algorithm.
You so brilliantly invented an algorithm to make us more addicted to our phones. An algorithm that connects people across the planet whilst collecting such deeply personal information about us that we didn't even realize about ourselves.
You then brilliantly worked out how to harness this intangible superpower to make yourself and your mission copious amounts of money through selling our data to everly increasing psychologically manipulative targeted advertisers which funds further expansion of your conquest.
You’ve got what you wanted, you’re now a techno-feudalist king in a new post-capitalist world, a tech-disruptor equivalent of a Roman emperor conquering the metaverse (you cut your hair to look like Caesar & we love that for you). Of course in the past these systems didn't work out so well for those further down.
So we’ve come up with a simple idea to offer you for free:
